I don’t know when the internet became a playground for jumping people who have a difference in opinion from your own, but it’s quite frankly annoying as hell. Sometimes I really want to hop off this hoe.

I hate to be a “back in my day” ass human every time, but truly the internet was a fun place before COVID. It’s like everybody got their panties in a bunch and are ready to attack anybody at any given moment.

I miss the MySpace days when it was all about creativity more than anything. Or Tumblr when communicating with other people wasn’t even at the forefront, it was mainly about coping in public amongst others…in the midst of photos— the ultimate creative expression.

The thing about the internet these days is that if you say, you like apples, here come somebody saying “omg so you hate oranges!??!” It’s like what is that? What happened to having a difference of opinion, talking it out, seeing it from a different point of view, and learning about various perspectives? I guess that’s all out the window.

It kind of relates to cancel culture. Like damn…let people like what they want to like in peace! We don’t have to like the same things, we don’t have to have the same ideals or beliefs, we don’t have to have the same interests. Get the fuck over it!

To me, it feels like everybody is on a search to be accepted and I’m literally not. I am who I am to my core, and that’s it. Am I able to make adjustments…sure, but I’m perfectly okay with how I am, with or without the internet’s approval. I don’t need the internet to agree with me to valid my thoughts nor opinions and it doesn’t need to be an argument or disagreement.

I really want people to understand that originality is cool, been cool, will forever be cool. Say what you want, do what you want, live how you want, and share what you want to share.

So no….I don’t want to normalize shit. Be you.
