freak offs imagined, silky smooth skin, and pop music saved!
Grip baby is in theeeee building! Welcome to my first monthly magazine-esque entry of Forever Obsessed. A collection of thoughts, reviews, trends, and obsessions that took over my month. Get into it diva!
Music on repeat…
When it comes to new music, if I hear something I like, I’m instantly obsessed. I’m the person you don’t want to be in the car with because I will run a new song into the ground, and it seemed like this was the month of new music. There are a few new songs in my repeating rotation. Poppin Out (Mistakes)Chxrry22 was my song at the beginning of the month. It just gives me 2000s baddie vibes, making me feel like a young hot girl frolicking through life. The lyrics are tea because being a heartbroken bitch is definitely and will be forever out of style. It’s the perfect hit that I wish I had after my breakup, for sure.
The pop girls are back!!! Sabrina Carpenter really dominated this month! I couldn’t scroll on any app without hearing her, and Short n’ Sweet got me through 80% of my morning 5k walks. One thing I love is when my white queens hop on the track and talk shit on a pop hit! I love when pop music makes me feel like a pop princess again. Jesus was a Carpenter, and Ms. Carpenter saved pop music. I love when white girls, white girl. Without including Espresso (because, duh), my top 3 would be 1. Good Graces, 2. Bad Chem, 3. Taste. I am obsessed with this girl, seriously.
Ok, I can say that I’m late to the Teezo Touchdown party, but somebody put me on, and now I get it. He reminds me of my 2007 emo days on Tumblr. It gives me old alternative bands like Boys Like Girls but with an R&B twist. I’ve been obsessed with the song Up and Down because it reminds me of old R. Kelly vibes, and UUHH gave me old rockstar vibes. After listening to the album, I can say I’m not in love with everything, but I appreciate his individuality in 2024. His features are all hits, and I will be tuned in from now on.
The number one song on repeat right now is Oakland Pt. 2 by Karri. It’s a vibe, that’s it.
Are movies getting good?
Why aren’t more people talking about this movie? Blink Twice made me hop into the movie theaters again because it was the best movie of the year! Channing Tatum is still fine, and he played that part! I almost forgot he was a creep in the film. After I rushed to the movies because of Twitter’s rants about how good it was…they did not lie. Girl, I could barely finish my hot wings in the theater because I really had to pay attention! Now I’m not gonna yie (TikTok lingo iykyk), when I left, I was confused, and I gave it a 3/5. But once I slept on it and watched some videos of the movie’s decoding, I was like, damn…that was the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. It was a deep, complex, and twisted film that I now give a 5/5 across the board. Creepily enough, it is what I imagine a Diddy “freak off” looks like.
I also saw Speak No Evil. That movie was a classic thriller about a family at a creepy house where creepy things start to happen. I give it a 4/5 because it was good. If you’re spending your hard-earned money to go to the movies, spend it on Blink Twice. Speak No Evil can wait until steaming or head to your Tuesday dollar special.
Pumpkin spice season is here!
Is it me or has pumpkin spice been nasty? I am a pumpkin spice girlie and usually am obsessed but this season I’ve had three so far and they all were disgusting. I’m wondering if it’s because it’s still 99 degrees in Texas and the weather isn’t matching the vibes. If you’ve had a bomb pumpkin spice drink, please let me know where you’ve gotten one.
So I joined Facebook dating…
And I don’t think online dating is for me. This could honestly be it’s own post so I’ll keep it brief. We can all (probably) agree that dating is not the best right now, but I am trying. The men on there seem to look better and be more serious so I was excited to finally experience what I have in my head, or what I imagine a true dating experience. I matched with a lot of guys fast, talked to a few, and gave my number to two, but one moved on to continue for The Love of India Monee’. I’ll say that it ended up being a flop and grandma not mad, grandma just hurt. Honestly, it just made me really stand on that I feel like my man isn’t on a dating app, so I shouldn’t be either. Is it a crime that I want more depth to my relationships than swiping right or left? What do you think about online dating?
Trends: Grandma not mad, grandma just hurt.
Good trends are hard to come by that just hit in every aspect of life. A good catchy trend has different levels, but it hits the hardest when you can intertwine into your daily conversations. While there’s been a lot of good trends this month, but my favorite has definitely been, grandma not mad, grandma just hurt. It’s so easily repeatable which makes it good. It can be related to so many things, this month when I wanted to buy the most perfect fall bag, the Coach Empire Carry All 40, but instead spent my entire life savings on all new 4 tires, updating my car registration, getting an oil change, and new windshield wipers...when I’m literally just a girl. Grandma not mad, grandma just hurt.
Cleotrapa’s recent storytime turning into a huge compliment for the girls and a vouging moment with “come to find out…everybody ate” is clearly a testament to how iconic she is on the internet. The vocabulary queen clearly proved this month that she is beyond an influence and a chicken salad can’t take that away.
Even though TT is old, I be doing the TikTok dances. If you’re lucky we can catch me doing them on my Instagram stories. Sean Bankhead took a young white man’s dance and took it to the next level. Sorry Not Sorry is also one of my favorite songs this month. The collab of that beat and the dance just did it for me.
Who takes the cake this month is definitely all the Henry Danger memes. I know nothing about this man, but the memes are so relatable and dangerously hilarious.
Body Care is my true love
You know how they say figure out what type of bougie your girl is, I’m body care bougie. As I’ve gotten older I’m not sure where it’s come from or where it started but it’s literally my favorite thing. It’s something about getting in the shower; knowing you have so many fun goodies when you get in and out just makes me excited. Taraji P. Henson’s body care line is unrated as hell. I have not seen anybody discuss her line, but the smells are 10/10; the body butter is thick, and the body oil smells so good and is hydrating, but the body scrub takes the cake! It’s literally top two. This month, I also tried Ouai’s body scrub, and I think it’s on the top of the pyramid as number one. It’s so hydrating, thick, and smells so good. If you’re in the market, definitely try those two.
see more of my obsessions here. (I’ll be updating this continuously)
Neighbor Hurry TF Up.
So I’m 90% sure I started The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest in September, and it’s still September, and I have not finished. The story isn’t keeping me hooked. I’m about 60% in on my Kindle, and I’m just not feeling it. In the beginning, it really is good, and of course, I can see where it’s going, but it’s really dragging. I’ve been thinking that maybe I’m not in my romance era, which is hard for me to get into anyway, but should I finish? Because I’m considering DNFing it.
Be Obsessed.

Here’s what you can catch up on from me this month…
Cheesesteaks, thick beards, Septa, and Love Park. Philadelphia was such a cute moment with my family during Labor Day weekend to see Usher. Philly definitely has to see me again. If you watch, leave a comment on the video and let me know.
I started my series “My So-Called 30s,” which just discusses crossing some things off my bucket list before my birthday and my thoughts about heading into a new decade. On this episode, I crossed off learning how to make a cocktail. While it’s not perfect, it was my first time, and it was done.

Journaling is my love language, and I plan on talking about it more, so from now on, I'm incorporating prompts for you! Answer it in the comments, and let’s chat, or let me know if you will journal about it privately. :)
Journal Prompts:
How do you want to rebrand yourself for the fall?
What are you proud of yourself for this month?
If we learn from our mistakes then why we are afraid to make mistakes? What is something that you want to do but you’re too afraid to make a mistake?
This is my September! Let me know what you think about this post!
Teezo’s album is one of my favorites, I’m so happy more people are seeing his talent!!
I’m proud of myself for cataloging my closet so I know exactly what I have an can plan my outfits ahead of time. It was a tedious task but 100% worth it.
I liked Sabrina’s album too! I think Don’t Smile is my favorite song. Or maybe Bed Chem…
